Rules And Regulations

1 This is gravity racing. No form of motive power is allowed.

2 Cars must run on four wheels, two front and two rear. Wheel diameter can be no smaller than 6 inches. All four wheels must touch the ground.

3 Car must have full one piece floor and body and must be fully enclosed except for cockpit.

4 A properly fitted and approved motorcycle, snowmobile, bicycle or hockey helmet is required and must be fastened when racing. No other style helmet will be allowed.

5 Brakes must be capable of a short, safe stop with no damage to road surface.

6 Steering must be by wheel or bicycle handle bar. If using cable, it must be a minimum 1/8 inch in diameter.Automotive type steering is strongly recommended by the race committee. Cars with steering deemed unsafe by race officials will not be allowed to participate.

7 Clothesline, rope and foot controlled steering will not be allowed.

8 Cables and clamps for steering or brakes must be cable type. Clothesline cable or clamps will not be allowed. Special cosideration may be given to the handicapped regarding braking systems and other related items.

9 No modifying the car after the two time trials.

10 The finish light beam will be set at 8 inches above the road surface. Cars must have a solid piece of body at least 6 inches long to break timing light beam at 8 inches above the road.

11 Maximum weight of racecar (without driver) cannot exceed 200 pounds. Any additional weight added to the car to reach your maximum weight of 200 pounds MUST be fastened securely to the car.

12 All cars will be safety inspected before the race. The race committee can, at their discretion, remove any car and/ or driver that is considered unsafe or not meeting any of the above regulations. The race committee has the authority to conduct mini inspections at their discretion.

13 Age of participants is 6 to 16.

14 Typical race day schedule consists of 2 practice runs, two time trials and two race runs.

15 Registration will close 1/2 hour before race time .

Ramp Rental Information

What is required by the H.S.R.A. ?

The H.S.R.A. agree to supply on the day of the race,the ramp,timing lights, computer & the program for time trials. Will also supply tires for safety barrier. If needed we will help set up and tear down on the day of the race.

What is required by the derby committee or organization?



A minimum area of 400 feet long and 30 feet wide will be required to run the race.

 

A forklift with a 12 foot lift will be required

 

Proof of insurance must be supplied the day of race.A truck and driver with proof of insurance to transport ramp back and forth from race.A tractor-trailer is required to move the ramp. A minimum of 8 people are required to run the derby. Note: Races should be organized for a Saturday so the following day can be used for a rain date if needed, since the following weekend is probably already booked. The ramp rental fee is two hundred dollars. If by chance the derby is rained out, there is no charge for that weekend.
